Danger Dream
I’m at an East Lansing punk nightclub with some youngsters and we overhear these two guys talking. The one is the boss, the other the muscle…he’s a kinda scarred Indian with long black ponytail and black leather coat. Boss is just a dude. They’re both kinda young themselves. They’re going to work over or kill someone who’s cutting in on their drug action. It seems like a simple plan in a simple business. They’re not thinking very far ahead; just doing their job. They’ve been disrupted and going to do something about it. Very realistic. The youngsters I’m with seem to know about them.
It turns out that Judith, needing money for rent, and having previously bought drugs from these guys, has gone around them and is now selling a modest batch of drugs herself to some people she knew used to buy from the hoods. She’s cutting in on their market to make some money to pay her rent coz she doesn’t want a regular job coz she’s a slacker. She’s in the kind of trouble her “don’t worry, what’s the diff, it’s cool” attitude wouldn’t seem likely to get her into. But an automatic animal is forming out of the mist of the nebulous hang-loose scene and is converging in on her. I have to warn her that she’s in danger.
The End.
