
OK, maybe this picture is helpful. Here I am, getting ready to kick with my right foot. I've dropped my weight onto my right foot and my knee and ankle are flexed. My posture is "forward". When I kick I'll press down as I fall/tip forward then I'll catch myself with my other foot. Kicking is mostly just changing my weight from foot to foot. In skiing you have to smoothly "plant" a foot to get it to grip so you can step onto the other foot. Good luck! : )
