Working in public on wifi or cell-phones seems kinda weird. I’ve been working this way for over a month this summer.
I’m still freaked out by today’s cafe and social scene. This is private stuff we’re doing, really. It’s like being in a bathroom with transparent walls.
With the cells, people are airing their business yet no one is supposed to listen.
And with the wifi typing and texting, you have people close together yet so far apart. There’s a “don’t look at me” vibe, too…
Sometimes we have fun, though. We chat a bit. Then everyone dives back into their “important stuff.”
I have no idea what they’re doing. …As for me, I kinda hope they eavesdrop and notice that I’m working with images of Bolger boats or such and start asking questions… 🙂
