I heard Bill Moyers say on NPR that today’s political environment shocks him because he’s a New Dealer and was raised believing that government can do good.
Fine. Bill seems like a good guy. He’s done good TV.
I wonder how big of a percent government involvement was in our lives in the New Deal era.
I suspect that for Left and Right alike that if we were to go back to the scale of government of the New Deal era that we’d find it stripped to the bones compared to either side’s ideas today.
It’s just a hunch.
It kinda reminds me of how when you see photos of even rich’n’fancy houses from decades ago they look plum empty compared to today.
