I watched the TV for a minute yesterday. They’re saying it’s a heat-wave and we should all conserve electricity.
BS!
First let all the businesses, public and govt spaces conserve then ask the people. Let all the vast, ridiculous malls and big-boxes crank it up to a scary (yet totally fine and cool) 74F…and, well, then forget about any emergency, the overload would disappear, end of story.
I went to the doctor today. The desk lady said, Ooh, come in and cool off! I don’t need no frickin COOL in no summertime! I need it to be *decent*. No need for cool in summer or hot in winter. That doc’s office was frickin’ ARCTIC! I needed a coat. It was RIDICULOUS! I bet that’s the way all the consumerist places are today! *ICE COLD*! Coz crazy is what you need to keep the money flowing, they think. I don’t know about the gov’t buildings—hopefully they’ve dialed up to a sane, normal 74, but I doubt it.
None of the hot-weather brown-out talkers should be listened to until all buildings are set to something like that 74 degrees F and we still find that we’re too hot and/or running short on Big E.
If America thinks it can run interior spaces like they’re refrigerators when it’s summertime, then it needs to GO DOWN and it will. It’s simple. Morons always go down. No way to escape it. It’s not even sad.
When it’s really hot out, people don’t need to find “cool” places, they need to find places that aren’t too hot.
And when it’s snowy winter, no interior space needs to be what you’d actually call warm, much less hot, except for romantic snuggle-up spaces, like in front of roaring fires. So, again, we don’t deserve to survive as a nation/culture if we want to have interiors any warmer than 65 degrees F in the winter.
As it is, though, our family has to wear winter coats when we go into public spaces in the summer. And we have to wear summerwear when we go into public spaces in the arctic winter. And that’s just stupid: of them. Not us.
Face it, people: it’s warm in summer, hot even. No problem. It’s cool in winter. Neat. No harm, no foul.
No one is saying to roast anyone in the summer—surely, no one should live where it’s hot if they don’t like heat, of course. Etc. Common sense, people: don’t leave home without it. Evolution will getcha if you do.
