The Potto Raid is over but there are still two more legs of the SuperTour!
The Stinchfield Loppet is scheduled for 2/27, 10 a.m., meet at the professional building parking lot near the corner of N. Territorial and Dext-Pinckney. This will be a couple hours of ski fun with party-picnic meetups at the various trail intersections. Not a race, but there are loops out there that give back as much as you put in. Biggest hills in SE Mich. Advanced terrain, but sane, and some mellower options.
The Jordan Jam is on for 3/12 8 a.m., start at Deadman’s Hill. 19 miles. Double-black Touring Experts only. Many big technical downhills with no bailouts. Be prepared. Could be 5 hrs, could be 11, it all depends. (Possibly a Chandlers Telefest the next day.)
If we get Just the Right Conditions oneathesedays then there will also be yet another attempt at a Full Waterloo — 35 miles of joy. This might require sudden action on the right day. A couple good dumps followed by a weekend plus a few days for various people to hopefully track it in some. Start dark, finish dark. Be prepared. 4 pizza-slice outing, 2 liters, 2 cokes. Could vary from 8-12 hrs.
(A Big Shinglemill would also be good to hear about.)
I note that there’s also the 28th Ski Loppet, 16 miles of mixed terrain, from the Outfitter shop in Harbor Springs to the Crow’s Nest Restaurant in Cross Village. There’s a fee for this one, but also a big feed/party. It’s the big winter event up there for the locals. More at: www.outfitterharborsprings.com/
