Here’s a link to info about the coolest race / ski-tour in Michigan!
It’s held on 1/25 and it’s the severalth annual Poto Trail Ski Raid.
17 miles of ungroomed hill’n’dale in Pinckney on the worldclass Poto singletrack trail. Maybe the trail will be skied-in or walked-in already—maybe not.
It’s a downstate jamboree. No entry fee. Just fun.
Mostly mtbike freaks have been showing up.
Sure, it’s a “race,” but anyone who can ski this whole loop at whatever pace is doing great. So you can call it a tour if you like. You better be moving pretty steady to finish. Actually, there’s an 11-mile bailout, so there’s that.
If conditions are good then you’ll have a light touring blast (bring 3 slices of pizza to survive). There are maybe 3 fast, sketchy, turns near the halfway point.
If conditions are sketchy then probably the new short-style skis are better. If icy then the ones with a bit of metal edge to them.
