Here’s a link to one of the two great telefests in the Midwest, the other being the “west side” Porkies fest. My impression is that the SnowFlea is more family-style and food- and folk-music oriented, as it’s based around one B&B with all its own backcountry right out its back door.
And you know it’s friendly because it’s Canadian. The Bellevue Valley B&B is a compact, friendly lodge, with nice sunny porches—a great base for a weekend of skiing, food and music.
It’s this Feb. 20-22. And it’s the 13th Annual! I’m sure that all skill-levels would find plenty to do, plenty of fun, and nice folks. T
You probably don’t even have to go steep’n’deep, as I bet the plain old ski-touring would be great, too. (We took a nice afternoon ski down to the shores of the nearby Goulais River. It was neat seeing the snowmobile tracks going down the river as if it were a road in the wilderness. Yep, a far-north river is a highway once it freezes. That’s not just something from old books about Indians and Klondikers.)
Hosts Enn and Robin are closely involved with Canadian folk music, with plenty of headliners stopping by their place and town for gigs. So the music at this event is top notch, you can be sure.
There’s a sauna.
And plunge pond.
Their B&B is always the best way to get your access to the glorious Soo area skiing, canoeing, hiking mtbiking and such.
