Last Sunday afternoon, a bunch of Team NSR members got together at Kensington in SE Michigan and skied a few hours on golf course crust in 10F.
…Then we had a nice fresh air BBQ!
Folks brought chili and brats and cookies and lettuce—it ALL went onto the grill to get roasted…or just warmed and thawed.
Check out the pics of the fun!
Some of us even departed slightly from the Gu and electrolytes protocol and got even warmer with an old-fashioned bota bag of white wine (OK, a water bottle) along with some nips of hootch.
That’s the way we do it in Michihoots. Check out more at the Team NSR website.
Cold Pride for Kids
I also thought that Garrison’s “Prairie Home” show last weekend was a good one for celebrating COLD.
His story of the Boy Scouts doing their winter camping ritual of pride during the max-cold weather was SPOT ON. Go scouts! –Complete with their troop leader urging them on from the warmth of his car. Funny stuff! And the soliloquy on prying yourself out of your tent (full of shivering boys piled together like rabbits in a burrow) then peeing high into the night air at -40F and “making ice.”
Oh yeah!
Yooper pride!
(I include all the cold weather up north crazies in with yooper pride.)
