Free Yourself from the Groomer! (And the Sag!)

That’s all I gotta say!

It’s a little early in the year for ski rants, but there ya go.

Real skiers aren’t always following around behind putt-putt vehicles that make things cute’n’smooth for them.

It’s OK now’n’then, but I wouldn’t let it become a habit.

And, while we’re at it: support yourself, why not.

Bring what ya need.

Don’t have folks out there schlepping stuff around for you.

What, do you need a maid? Don’t friends’n’family want to have some fun, too? Support crews are great and all — as people — but their job description is lacking: they need to get a life and knock it off. It’s called enabling, or something. Let everyone fix their own bikes. It just kinda turns an adventure into an event into a pose. And the overhead goes thru the roof.

Don’t get me started on sag wagons.

Vehicles and support can be part of life, part of adventure, but let’s make sure they’re REALLY part. Until you figure out how to do that, ditch ’em.

OK, not the vehicles in all cases. Adventuremobiles are often needed. But use ’em ONLY when needed. And keep ’em in the picture. If you’re drivin’n’bikin’, say so, don’t just say you’re bikin’.

Oh, all right: it’s all relative. Just don’t get too addicted to crutches, is all I’m saying.
