I’d like to do 4 epic ski-tours this winter.
I’d be happy to have folks join me.
Here they are:
*the Poto
*Pigeon River (Shingle Mill Pathway and more)
*Jordan River Pathway
*Chandler Hills (with David S. as tour guide!)
I don’t know when they will happen, however. I’m used to not knowing when I’ll have good snow—but I suppose the weather up north in those locales will be reliable.
Come to think of it, the 3 tours up north could all be done in a long weekend. Epic!
I’m thinking mid-February. That will give me time to get in shape via day-skis down here. –Hopefully I can jump on a big dump or two down in Pinckney in January. That might line up well with RadNord’s annual mid-January Poto Raid (or two!) See, a schedule is starting to shape up already!
Hmm, maybe the Mason Tract near Roscommon would be a good day-tour option for early January.
Then there’s our trailer in Baldwin—blast the gas heat. I’ve never visited in full-on winter. The North Country Trail passes close by. I wonder what might be the best section to ski in that area. We did a fine autumn hike in there—kinda flat—yet still ridgey with enough undulation and hardwoods higher up with swaley swamps and creeks down low to make it nice.
Up in Pigeon River country, Shinglemill.
Along the Waterloo Trail, Pinckney area.
