Here’s a YouTube a guy put together about him and his truck. It’s a little one. It’s a classic. A 4 cyclinder Toyo. 2wd. They are still cherished and they still get 30mph. 1984. It’s the truck I want someday. I’ll drive south to pick it up. It’ll be my 2-tracker.
Ya know, there were several trucks in the “little and economical” category before power went to the public’s heads. In the mid-80’s several could get 30mpg. They were also known for being very reliable. And maybe even simple. After that: none qualified in those regards. Too bad. Anyway, the trucks were the Isuzu Pup, the Toyota Pickup (simple names are nice) and the Chevy S10 and GMC S15. (Were they all Isuzu’s or something?).
So this guy traveled the USA from ’84 to 2000, covering all the states (but Hawaii?). With a little capper. Tenting and picnicking along the way. OK, the music is max truck-style Kountry but when you’re out on those back roads, you know it works…
