The following are links to complete and free text downloads of six of the teaching books of MIEM, the Michigan Institute of Educational Metapsychology. The first link gets you a quick peek at the first page, preface or brief chapter of each title. If you like what you see, hit the main download link (title) of the excerpt to receive a 275 kb (approx) ASCII text file equal to a 125-page 5×7 book (approx).

The author is Prof. Ronald E. Puhek, host of the weekly meeting of MIEM, in East Lansing, Michigan. This series of seminars has been meeting for 30 years now. The goal of MIEM is simply the striving to live one’s daily life in connection with ultimate reality. No reason to make it any fancier.

(I have to confess that you might find an occasional typo. Loading entire books from PC disk to MSW to ASCII was…interesting.) Feel free to print out your download, but don’t go turning into a copyshop.

Note: All *12* titles of the Fifth Way Press now available at OYB Press link or any majon online bookstore!

Below are only the six ascii files I’ve uploaded, but you can find many more Fifth Way Press titles at the OYB Press link at the top of the OYB homepage. This link also has succinct little paragraphs quickly describing each title.

Educational Metapsychology: Jeff’s View…

Scary words, those. Actually, it’s just applied religion.

I’ve been going to this innocent reading group in East Lansing for a couple years now. We help each other read Great Books, or to find the Timeless elements of whatever it is we’re reading…or doing…around the house and at work. It’s a Search Committee, as they say.

The guy who’s been hosting this polite forum (polite is the way we midwesterners like it) for 30 years in his little house is Ron Puhek. —A professor at Michigan State University. I don’t know in what. Social Science? He lectures on life. Connects it with myth. —And has been doing it longer than Bill Moyers has! With more coherence, too, I think.

Also, every summer some members of our ‘cult’ join Ron at his cabin for a weeklong intensive seminar of good cookin’, walks, rows and long tough talks on the screen porch.

Anyway, Ron’s been writing books all this while. They get passed around. That kind of book. The best kind. Cult books!

What is it all the pop-psychology self-help holistic types do with their life-discovery breakthrough books? —Post them free on the Net? (Yeah, right.)

Of course, Ron’s not famous, so you won’t read his books. But I’ll upload em here anyway. Just in case! To tempt fate. Who am I to withold them?

See, I judge poetry by the fact that I hate it. Thus, if I read a poem I like, damn, it must be good! Same with books. Some people think I like reading everything. I hate it. I hate bad books. I suffer until I find a good one. I refuse to participate even a second with one I don’t like. I give no one any respect. Unless they earn it. Thus when I like one you know it’s gotta be good. (Or that it satisfied some twisted part of my warped psyche…you decide!)

Anyway, I’ve read some of the Greats. I’ve read some of the News. I’ve been Post here and Modern there. I look wherever I can to find Good Reading. You know someone that hungry will end up in the deep end. Sure enough: the tastiest berries haven’t been picked! Unpublished work is often where it’s at. Unpublishable is even better. Oh, something might come of Ron’s stuff someday. Those who come to the reading group are mostly local docs, teachers and social workers…Ron’s books have been helping the helpers for 30 years now. Folks who’ve been there, done that…like OYB readers!

Ron’s work is right up there with the big hitters. He blends the old with the new and holds nothing, nada, back. He’s clean…burns pure. What can we learn from Plato, Nietszche, Sartre, Freud, Buddha, Hesse, The Desert Fathers and the Great Novelists all combined…let them purify and burn thru each other—gold remains. How can they help us now? Ron shows how. With not a single ax to grind. He doesn’t write about any “ism’s”–tho those are integrated here along with everything else–or from any point of view. He’s burned up his point of view. When you put out and give it up this far out, point of view is outta there. He’s just going after Truth. Do you think purity and integrity are dead, useless, wimpy? Think again…and download if you dare!
