Why I started a Zine
Here’s a bit of what’s happened to my reasons for doing it over the years….
I started way back when in 1991 thinking that I’d get to meet my heroes
and do interviews…that I’d go to famous events and be able to participate
and meet people…I also thought it would be an easy way to get swag
and freebies of various types.
How it has turned out is that I haven’t done a single interview ever.
My heroes have disappeared. I don’t care about meeting anyone or going
to a single event, not inclined to any hobby any more in that way. (I do
em all still, but don’t go anywhere to do them.) I’ve taken advantage of a
couple gratis items.
But I’m still doing my zine and website (new issue every year whether
it needs it or not!). Funny how things change and can still live.
I found early on that I *coulda* done all those things super easy,
but I just stopped caring about all that and none of it ever panned
out. I wasn’t interested in THAT stuff enough to get off my butt.
I had better things to do in my own yard. My life had changed right out
from under me! OTHER stuff reared its head. And the zine still lives on.
(Maybe if I still had the same interests I’d publish more than once a year!)
