Thompson Center Encore: I like a Kit Gun

I’ve mentioned this gun system before, but here it is again, same pic even. I modified this pic to show the true range of the system.

I’m not sure why, but I like a kit gun. Lots of guns in one. And I’ve like the stylish curves of the TC line since I was a teen in the 1970’s.

It’s not like you can really use multiple guns in this system on the same outing. For that you need a Savage M24 O/U (.22 mag over 20-ga., say). Or you need to have your TC Encore briefcase in a set-up where you don’t mind hauling it around nor mind the delay in assembling.

It’s darn cool, though. (I’m kinda surprised they don’t have an Airsoft version of it.)

So the TC homepage has a neat new robo-sequence when you first click on the Encore link. It shows how 4 different long-guns can be made from one action by using stop-action puzzle-like plug’n’play movement of the various gun-parts.

Yet…yet…there’s also a Pistol variant for this action. What’s that? I suppose there are laws in some places that try to impede your ability to convert a long-gun to a short, but it’s moot in this case. Convert away. Just click over to the Encore Pistol option. So what if they don’t show it on the same screen. OK, maybe I’m off here, but I bet I’m not TOO far off — it might be that the standard pistol action is shorter, hmmm. So you’d have to do some fiddling. Still, it’s a thought. Kinda nifty getting 5 guns in one. Once you’re to 4, why stop?

If you like the idea of fussing with guns, this is a set-up that lets you fiddle to your heart’s content.
