Martha (my wife) and Sarah (her friend) have been making TONS of cool gifty crafty items lately. And selling them like hotcakes at Gift Art Shows. I’ll get photos and order buttons up for them soon. Items include:
*Scarves made of piece-together boiled wool fabric—selling by the hundreds
*Baby sweaters (boiled wool with accents)
*Baby blankets (quilts)
*Baby hats—cashmere with accents, ears and such
*Baby blocks—soft fabric blocks
*Baby books—quilted image-story booklets, small
*Greeting cards
*Cotton baby clothes and wool blankets
*Hotpads
I’m probably forgetting most of it. The gals have been working like they’re in a sweatshop. The shopping ladies gush and rave and snap it all up. The holiday shops in art galleries around here keep calling for more stuff as they keep selling out. They just did a land-office at the juried Bucktown holiday sale in Chicago. They’ll be there for the bigger sale next summer. (They’re basically starting out.) The idea is that there aren’t that many good, unique, presents for baby showers. There’s other ideas involved, too.
