Martha finally went to a toy store on the west side of town that she’d been meaning to visit but hadn’t. We rarely go over to that side—there are just more malls and minimalls over there.
Right near one of the old ex-car factories, on Saginaw Ave., a mile east of the west-side Lansing Mall, is the Toy Village.
It’s an old house. The store has been there for 45 years, owned by the same people.
Martha said it’s full of amazing things displayed throughout many little rooms and that the staff is mostly older folks and very helpful. It’s really everything you could want in an actual toy store. A store that’s not a warehouse, that is. It specializes in traditional toys.
Its website seems average enough, but the real place is what’s special.
