300 miles self-supported around the Florida peninsula by canoe, kayak, small sailboat.
It seems to take the winners and hard-chargers a few days to a week.
But then there was the year with the strong beam-reach wind when the cat-sailors finished in, like, 15 hours. Whoa!
Many of the boats are home-builts and self-designed. I just LOVE seeing what people come up with to try and crack the nut of having a good time, and a speedy time, at this event. It’s a real test of all-rounderism.
(Then there’s the Florida 120 in May and the Texas 200 in June. Oooh! Small boat “raids” are catching on over here. They’ve been big for awhile now in Europe. Motors usually aren’t allowed and grouped camp-outs are encouraged, from what I can tell.)
