The Sea Cadets runs a boat donation program where people can get rid of burdensome boats for a tax write-off. I’ve heard they’re mostly re-sold for about $1000. I have no idea what the real scoop is. Here’s the link to the program in Michigan. I think that most areas have such programs. Maybe the Boy Scouts also run such programs. I note that most boats also seem to be rather large. I suspect that the costs associated with keeping such boats is what puts them into the donor category. But I also notice a 22-foot sailboat listed as of 10/08, so that might be trailerable.
Anyway, if you want to get into boating or living aboard, this might be a cheap way to go! I’ve noticed that boat people don’t want to put up barriers to any potential fellow addicts. So if you want a boat there’s probably a way to get you one! …The real fun starts after! (Get ready to live for your boat, work for your boat, you’ll have a new Queen in your life. Who knows, you might like that!)
