MAIB doesn’t have much of an online presence. That’s because it’s actually an effiective, efficient, one-man real paper magazine. The best boat magazine in the world. Use the website to buy a sub, that’s all. Subs are $32 a year for 12 issues. They’re thick, dense 60-pagers. Black’n’white. The editor, Bob Hicks, might’ve finally hit 80 years of age. He’s been doing it 25+ years. You can probably request a back issue for $5.
May features…
*A week of cruising in a 14 foot sailboat. A Whitehall story. A report on Killarney. A sketch-story of a Townie. A reprint from “Shallow Water Sailor” — Bob cherry-picks. Real world navigation tips from a canoe voyager. The always fascinating global report on shipping of all kinds — where else do you get that?
*A report from Phil Bolger’s wife — worth the price of admission. Their goal is to save small commercial fishing by increasing boat efficiency. Susanne Altenburger submits this latest, as she carries the torch. An amazing project! Can one team do what no one else can? Moreover, it’s a two-person team where the other member is now but a memory. Simply amazing.
*Two radical smallboat sail reports: twin-sails for kayaks and polytarp sails.
*A dozen more goodies.
