The wonderful winter issue of MAIB arrived. Great as always! Get yours at messingaboutinboats.com. It’s the best magazine for casual reading about casual small boats. It has the human-scale down pat. No uppity anything. It’s 60 jam-packed pages every month (well, maybe slightly less often in winter). And it’s not on newstands. It’s 26 years old now!
Highlights of this issue include a report of a sea canoe expedition, plus reports of several affordable-style small boat voyages. A good half dozen articles on various aspects of dinghy cruising, including one with quite a few details on setting up a 15-footer for weekending. Pics from a small boat festival. A long report about how a guy “added lightness” and “simplicated” his trailerable small boat so make it easier to trailer: “So many holes to drill, so little time.”
(“Small Craft Advisor” is the only peer for MAIB. That’s a color newstand quarterly. About half as much reading per issue, too. Still, a wonderful mag as well. smallcraftadvisor.com.)
A pic of the HUGE table of contents. Too much to type!
Big cover.
