OK, I’ve checked it out. A movie that celebrates the diversity of small boats doesn’t exist. Anyone want to see one?
Homebrew movies have to cost about $30 each. (Small market projects have way-high overhead.) Is that too much?
The whitewater action scene has been done to death, literally, with hundreds of videos. And, really, a lot of WW these days isn’t about the boats—what boat? all I see is a plastic slipper—it’s about the adrenaline DOOOOD. Â : ) Â It’s all about big-air…or big non-air. Feel free to let all exceptions apply. I love a little enjoyable non-death-defying humpy water.
Anyway, I’d like to see a movie that showcased nifty scenes and
examples of small, versatile, homebuilt or at least well-used boats along the lines of:
(let’s riff here a bit…)
houseboat
beach cruiser sail/row
sea kayak  (Greenland, too!)
junk rig cruiser
sailing canoe 50/50
trimaran
ama’ed cat
grumman canoes turned into cat or something weird
pedal boat
water tribe rig
surfski
bolger boats
michalaks
folding bike pulling a folding canoe set up as a trailer which also
carries the luggage
wildwater race kayak (bulbous oddity!)
texas safari race 6-man-kayak-canoe
african kayak race scene
verlen boats in 100-mile 1-day-tour
blackburn challenge scene
Wouldn’t it be neat to see a movie medley showing all these in action?
These couldn’t be anything fancy or ornate. All serviceable, homebrew-style boats meant to be USED. As boats. Not fetish objects.
