Typhoon Recumbent Design

My idea blends the comfortable, efficiency of long wheelbase recumbents with the new spirit of low-rider bikes with the timeless grace of the Schwinn Typhoon’s curvey curves… It’ll be like those hiphop bikes you see around town nowadays, only it’ll be hi-performance. Yet! You can also lounge on the sidewalk and hang and be fat…

HPV buffs scratch their heads over the lack of popularity of their bikes. One factor is that too many of them look bad. Of course, quite a few hpv designs look cool, but the bad ones might be holding the genre down.

Easy Racer is one of the more popular bents…but I think the looks don’t win it points with the kids. Maybe I’m wrong.

My sketch isn’t the best or most inspirational of the ones I’ve done, but I couldn’t find the others, so here it is:

Sketch! UPDATE 11/08: Hey, several years after my idea I notice that 2 bikes came onto the market that reflect my concept. The Sun (Easy Racers) EZ-Sport Recumbent kind of has some curves: http://www.easyracers.com/09-ez_sport_cx.htm The “Huntington Beach Cruiser” was a low, curvy, stretch upright bike that looks GREAT as is but looks easily converted to a recumbent. It became the GT Dyno Roadster, which then spawned some clones, currently the Micargi cruisers at: http://www.2wheelbikes.com/chopper-beach-cruisers/puma-gts-chopper-cruiser.html
