The NAHBS is the annual US “big show” for supercool bicycles. It’s the “North American Handbuilt Bicycle Show.”
And it’s Feb. 27-29 in Indianapolis this year.
It has grown a lot in its 5 years, but I hear that it still has small-world personableness and flair.
So stop by this show if you want to check out full-bore bike enthusiasm. It’s not so much about the commerce at this one. It’s about the love of the bike.
Whether or not you’re in the market for a hand-made bike (and until you go maybe you can’t know), this show will max out your bike jones.
Then, too, it’s not all about the frames and bikes. Lots of quality, homestyle accessory and culture folks will be there. Plus there will be plenty of bike party action around town.
Remember, it’s not a retro or vintage show. (That would be more like the Cirque. …A sweet, but very different show.) Folks aren’t only *brazing* these handbuilts…they’re molding, carving, gluing or wrapping them. There’s a wide variety of materials and fabrics going down. Small shop quality and innovation is maybe the key.
Well, I’ve only heard/read about it so far. This year I’m going!
