Mtbiking is dudes catching big air, right? In most bike media, it is. Not in DR. OK, DR is including more huckin’ these days but they’re still also sticking close to their grassroots. They still use reader-supplied handmade art for many of their covers. They include a heaping healthy dose of commuter concepts and trail maintanence and promotion of localstyle microbrews. Sure, they run bike reviews—but a big chunk of them are for bikes made by small shops. They include the little guy like NO OTHER bike mag.
They’re one of the rare full-range pro magazines out there today that started as an honest to goodness ZINE. And they haven’t denied ONE BIT of their heritage.
And the guy who started it is still runnin’ it.
Maurice!
Props to DR!
…But these folks aren’t resting on their laurels. They’ve launched a new bike mag: “Bicycle Times,” dedicated to bike transit issues for all the folks who are just discovering the world of bike. Wow! Press on, people!
