Just a little tip: the Eurostyle national-points cyclocross leagues that have jacketed officials do things at a full notch more intense of a level than the fun leagues like Kisscross (“racing for beer”).
So if you race B’s in Kisscross, that means C’s in the USAC.
I thought that maybe B’s were B’s but when I saw “Cat 2/3” behind the B’s on the sign-up I asked if they were the same. I was told “no problem.” Well, that’s all relative. It’s no problem if you really ARE a Cat 2/3.
C’s in Kisscross are the beginners, many on mtbikes, a smaller group. B’s are “sporty” with some zesty skills. The main group. Many in their 30’s.
C’s in USAC are the normal people, fit riders who aren’t yet lifestylers, and they’re usually out of their 20’s, plenty in their 40’s. There’s even a C-35+. It’s a big, fairly skilled group. B’s are young, fit and fast — trained, bought in and on carbon. On teams, lifestylers. If you’re older and at that level you’re a Master. (Don’t mess with the Masters unless you’re a lifestyler: trained, skinny, on carbon.) A’s are the real elites.
