Have you ever made this list? I did recently. I hadn’t before, that I recall. It was a fun list to make. It ended up being pretty simple, and not what I expected it to be. I enjoy all food. Yet I don’t get worked up about it, that I can tell. As long as it’s fresh, local, simple, I would never ask for more. And that’s how we eat. Anyway, here’s my list. I made it by thinking two ways: what would I pick over something else and what would I really miss if I never had it again. Sure, it’s no complete diet, but it was a fun exercise. Also, it isn’t to say that I would eat a lot of any of this or eat it every day. As usual, I got a little carried away and broke some rules…
1. prosciutto/bacon
2. cheese (aged, crunchy with milkfat crystals)
3. sourdough bread
4. wine (Sancere white, Bordeaux red)
5. ribeye steak (or any red meat or part thereof)
6. pheasant (or any gamebird)
7. brook trout (or any gamefish)
8. fresh tomato
9. red raspberries
10. peaches
11. seviche (marinated Mexican seafood salad)
(I notice that I have no greens or deserts. Say la vie! –Maybe they’d fill out the next ten.)
