Old and New Worlds Meet

February 05, 2004

He's a 46-yr-old Saskatchewan Metis Indian who lives the traditional ways with his own and his extended family, migrating seasonally in the bush from summer cabin to winter trapping camp, all far off the grid. He's also a worldclass canoe champion who also wants to win a worldclass sled-dog race. I shook his hand at the AuSable Canoe Marathon. Smooth and slight-appearing from a distance. Up close even his smooth face seems solid muscle: only it's not tense. Here's a great story about this exceptional person.
