The $500 Drilling?

You are currently viewing The $500 Drilling?

Would a budget drilling ever be cool, likely or appropriate?

You know what I mean: a triple gun.

For my variant I envision a: 20-gauge; .22; .300 Sav.

Make it short and handily take-down, why not.

Where would it be good?

Gosh, I guess for places that are somewhat open-terrain where you might want to pot a: *flying grouse or duck; *strutting turkey; *50 yard rabbit; *deer-sized critter.

Or is it just a silly notion?

The ol’ Savage Model 24 did two of those tricks already. They’re a neat camp gun.

But, really, c’mon: What can’t a 12-ga single with adjustable choke do for ya?

What happens if you put a rifled barrel in there? — So you could fling a sabot way out there nicely. Sure, it doesn’t really like shot but would it pattern THAT bad? If you cranked the choke down to full how would it turkey-pattern?

Really, a 12-ga can whack a bunny at 50. Drop any bird. Pop a slug/sabot in there and you have your deer/moose. Crank the choke down and get a goose or turkey. What’s not to love? Why complicate matters? …Just buy a used ol’ single for $75 and call it a day and get busy with the REAL work of outdoor lore: gettin’ out there and using your senses and knowledge!

Oh well, I do like pondering weird guns sometimes.
