Here's the field of battle for a snack stop at Stinchfield today.

6 of us hammered the hills out there for a few hours. We ran into other people we knew a few times and our little gang grew and then shrunk as folks peeled off. Plenty of rest stops and safety checks.

You can tell a ski outing by its snack stop.

(I notice that the Hostess Apple Pie has already been eaten.)

You really gotta get far enough out on a trail very week or so in the winter so that apple juice tastes like heaven. ...And chocolate, cheese, crackers, sausage. Smoked fish if you have it.

Dave's fresh-baked pasties were also heaven-sent. As was the Pinot. And the Reposado.
