I happily discovered the dishware art of Laura Zindel on our family roadtrip this summer. So I thought I’d pass the tip along to you.

She makes plates, bowls, cups and things with a mix of artwork applied to them that you don’t usually see.

Sure, she has birds. But she also includes snakes and spiders!

I like the idea of showing off what is usually the overlooked or even unliked part of the natural kingdom.

I particularly like her mixed-item designs, where there might be a trim of grass and brambleberries ringing a center design of a garter snake.

What’s also nice is that her work is done in production runs and so is economical considering the rarity of the concept.

Here’s her website: www.zindelceramics.com

Scary!

Snakes and eggs. (I think they’ve been put together in art since pre-history. Just not on tableware lately.)
