The Cross Country Ski, Cook, Look & Pleasure Book, by Hal Painter
($20, rare first edition collectible. But I also have a few recent reprints left for $10. Send a manual PayPal payment for one of those.) This is a 60's-style classic. It's a unique literary art book on cross country skiing. Could be a "Zen and the Art of Skiing," only it's funny. Photos, poems, letters and essays all in one, and interconnected. It's an antidote to consumerism in skiing and an energetic attempt to connect skiing with its roots in fluidity, friendship and just plain fun. A rare chance to add literary zest to your outdoor book collection. The revival of a classic of 'hippy' times. Definitely the only book like it in ski culture---yet it reflects a whole lot of the skiing that actually takes place. The unreported part. The real part. (Caution: some portions mention various legal and illegal experiencings of a mature or perhaps immature nature, perhaps in the sense of being youthful, that is, not yet ruined for fun and friendship.)
Paperback, 5.5x8.5, 154 pages.
