ULA is Coming to Philly this Weekend
July 11, 2005

This weekend, the Underground Literary Alliance invades Philadelphia for 3 days of high-energy readings & fun literary events! It's all free and open to the public! (Help us spread the word.)

Click this link for all the details: http://www.literaryrevolution.com/philly.html

If you don't know, the ULA is a group of activists, readers and writers who are opening up the American literary scene to true independence and renewed vitality. We've been making good strides against the MFA-cabal for a couple years now. We're telling those who care about literature to start looking to the underground and zeens and DIY publishing for a change. Like music and film did much longer ago. If you think reading needs a freshen-up, join us.

What's on tap this weekend:

Friday July 15:

*2:30 pm, downtown Philly. ULAers and media members meet for an informal press conference & strategy session. (RSVP at LitRev.com if you intend to come).

*8 pm, Ellen Powell Tiberino Museum courtyard, 3819 Hamilton St. (off Lancaster Ave.) ULA stars take the stage at the Carnevolution festival. Lit-readings and rock bands!

Saturday July 16:

*5 pm, Medusa Lounge, 21st & Chesnut, Philadelphia. This is the big show you don't want to miss. Dozens of underground writers and poets will perform at this groundbreaking ULA event. The night will include poetry read-offs, speed open mic, and our headliner, legendary writer Jack Saunders, author of over 260 unpublished or underpublished books. This is Jack's first stop on the publicity tour for his latest book: "Bukowski Never Did This."

Sunday July 17:

*Noon til 6 pm, the Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St. PHILADELPHIA ZINE FEST! The ULA and member presses (Red Roach and LitVision Press) will be tabling at the Philly Zine Fest. Come by and say hello, pick up the new SlushPile and our other zines & books! Jack Saunders will also be giving a free workshop on internet publishing and his 35 years experience on the DIY small press scene.

This weekend of literary excitement is going to be a blast! Don't read about it afterwards...join us! The Underground is the future of literature, and we intend to kickstart the future NOW! This weekend, July 15-17---get with us, and tell your friends what's going on.
