It's a new era for the camper van...
May 22, 2005
There's a new 'big van' hitting our shores these days from Europe. I guess the car-scene news is that the big maker 'big vans' need to get competitive again. The "Sprinter" is a hot delivery van in Europe and they're ready to take over the "big van" market here. The neat thing (I gather) is that they have headroom. They also supposedly work really good, too.
The next cool thing is what the van conversion people are doing with them. I bet they make a dandy compact camper with real, longterm 'liveaboard' style. They're much smaller than an RV, but will do anything a family that wants an RV really needs...without the lame behemoth factor.
Here are a couple top camper resources to consider:
Van Specialties --a solid roof that still offers headroom for 6-footers!
SportsMobile --these are pop-ups, which aren't my personal preference, but I've heard they have official automaker backing
