It's That Time of Year! --XC Ski Lessons! Sweet Ski Videos!
December 11, 2011

Hey, if anyone wants to learn how to XC ski better, I'm for hire! : ) $20 for an hour lesson. Fixes are easy and will typically hugely improve skills for fun, racing, touring. Ditch the floundering and strain -- if you're not easily gliding *up* the hills, you need a lesson. A fun and super-helpful extra thing we could do is to videotape you skiing. Then we could play it back on the spot (in car on laptop) to see what you're really doing (slo-mo, even) then go back out for immediate improvement. Video is a $20 upcharge. We could even include an hour or so of select portions of several wonderful/inspirational/technique ski movies at Harper's with pizza/beer afterward --you buy! I could handle several folks at once.

For imgrat just go to my YouTubes for username Outyourbackdoor and JeffOYB. I have a bunch of fun, innovative XC how-to videos. I admit I don't show you how to put on your skis and poles -- I focus on areas where even enthusiastic skiers have trouble for years. ...And where current books, lessons and videos fall short. (But I notice YouTube comments asking me to show them the basics, so maybe I will this winter if I can find the time.)

(FYI, "imgrat" is "immediate gratification." It's a funny word I'm borrowing from Ed Sanders' "Tales of Beatnik Glory" about hippy life in NYC in the 60's -- he of The Fugs fame and glory.)

Here's my radical vid showing the all-new super-duper technique, Striding Doublepole:
