...Maybe someday Detroit will open itself to being re-DIY'ed!
(What's holding it back, anyway? I recently heard that it was taxes, plain'n'simple. Nobody can afford to build and/or open up shop there. But, but...there ARE qiute a few new places. Well, who knows. Maybe someone will chime here in. Maybe they're just willing to overcome the hurdles that might actually prevent others. When businesses need a loan to get going I suspect that their required margin for survivability goes down to sub-5%. That is, they're only making it by the skin of their teeth in the best of times. So if overhead downtown is just a few percent higher than out of town, that might make all the difference. Perhaps some folks are luckier and have enough capital that they can get by with less margin.)
