The "Lurk": a Nifty Retro Tele Tool
February 07, 2011
Didja know there's a whole sub-scene in the telemarking scene of folks who ski with a lurk? That's the long single pole that the early skiers used. And they don't just do it to be re-enactors. It works cool and differently. I can tell that it GETS YOU FORWARD, which is good. You can also adjust pole-length on the fly. I wonder how it is for going back up the hill...?
Here's the only guy who makes them:

It kinda reminds me of my canoe-poling! ...Also of sea-kayaking! ...With a Greenland paddle, to be sure.
I should probably give it a try... Maybe I'll get a chance this upcoming weekend up in BOHEMIA! I hear there'll be telefreaks up there.
Here's a hat and a couple of tee's for showing that you care about literature and want to see a revival of robust reading in the land!
The first two items use the semi-official logo as seen on the front of proud ULA media…
The ULA will have a Letter in this Sunday's NYTRB!
Who knows how they'll edit it, but it's a challenge (yet again!) to the Academic Lit scene that is killing US literature to and open the gates…
